Message to Patients

The Okayama University Department of Cardiovascular Surgery serves as the last line of defense, covering all areas of cardiovascular surgery. We are dedicated to treating cardiovascular diseases in patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. Through our network of 32 affiliated facilities nationwide, we perform approximately 5,000 surgical procedures annually. The university hospital, in particular, accepts patients from throughout the Chugoku-Shikoku region, as well as from across Japan and overseas, especially for congenital heart diseases. However, a university hospital is not just a place for treating difficult cases. We leverage the advantages of having all medical departments available to respond to all types of diseases. Medical care requires close collaboration among many departments, with team-based care centered on the patient. In today's era of specialized medicine, it is precisely because we have all departments represented that we can provide advanced medical care through teamwork among multiple expert groups. Our Okayama University Department of Cardiovascular Surgery strives to be a key member of this strong team.
